Another happy The Wicked player

So to start off, this is my first post. Hello everyone, nice to meet you. Anywho, me and 2 of my friends have been playing The Wicked for about 4-5 days spending massive amounts of night time on it. We have managed to make our way up to level 47 for which we are stumped for now. Anyway, I just think that the most amazing thing for us is that we have done it ourselves thus far, no cheats and no looking up answers. Whether we got the answer through hours of work, or accidently (on the level with the hint "first search first" we got stuck until my friend just got pissed off and typed in what he was feeling in the url and it worked!) we have made it through honestly. I absolutly am in love with it, I love the challenege. I esepcially liked the email one. Brilliant. But yes, me and two of my friends, who are not on the forums now, are making our way through, I'll tell you guys if we ever finish!

Thanks for the excellent challenge.

Time wasted

Lesson ended today at 11+am. And there is a maths test at 5pm. Not only did the badly timed maths test disrupted by physics revision schedule, the time from lesson end up till the test cannot be taken full advantage of. This is because of the lack of comfortable and conducive environment in AJC for studying. I intended to go to the library, but it was crowded and noisy beyond words. Besides, I'm with my laptop, and the last time I checked, AJC library does not allow students to bring their laptop into the library. And i'll be mad to leave my laptop outside the library unattended. So I had to go to the reading room, the only other indoor place for studying in AJC. The outdoor locations were all too hot.

But it is weird, that most AJCians simply do not understand the meaning of a reading room. As the name implies, reading room is a place for reading or studying, which implies silence and conducive studying environment. However, the converse is true. Although AJC has a student lounge, many still chosed to use the reading room as their ultimate slacking place, chit chatting loudly, playing sounds from their lousy handphone speakers and other self-fish acts which made the room a totally hopeless place to study. No doubt, I'll fail my test again, and without doubt, my revision schedule was shot to pieces by the school admin again.

In chinese, we have a phrase for such things. "Effort doubled but result halved." A very fitting description.

Fire Drill

Congrats AJCians. You all managed to evacuate in 7minutes.

I have no idea how much things can burn down within 7minutes, but the principal praised us.

Oh well, in chinese high which has donno 10^ how many times more land area than AJC, our evacuation target was 2minutes.

Rubbish GP Essay

What do you get when you throw in good vocab, bad usage, bad sentence structures, random game titles flawed logic and zero correct content? The highest GP grade for that topic in AJC! I wrote and got 31/50 for this topic, getting the highest in class. This girl got 37! But did she really deserve the 37? Click here find out. (comments added by me. May be inaccurate. I can't do a better job than GP teachers, can I?)

Some quotes:

Since the intention of computers and ingenious soft wares like Microsoft, the number of games for the computer is also inumerable.

...Playstations and XBOX...can be plugged into the computer

Games such as Warcraft allows the games to build an army to plot them against evil aliens that are out to destory earth.

Counterstrike, the gamer get to plan his army to save the earth too.

And the conclusion? (Whether gaming is a healthy pursit)
But the point here is that the intention is good, which is to sve people and eliminate the evil enemies.

Well done you. I guess my GP really sucked in AJC. I can't write this kind of essay.

Racial Harmony Hour

So the racial harmony day came and went. I was talking to my friend from HCI, where he commented that racial harmony day in his school is so sian, just some dance performance by students of different races.

Well, AJC really hit it when our Racial Harmony Day consisted on the entire JC2 cohort cramping into the auditorum, with many sitting on the floor and watching a video made by our very own student, with shaky camera and bad narration + background noise. Then, an expert on political science and economics came to give a talk about the racial scene in Singapore. After he was done, a forum was opened and students from the audiences were invited to make any comments or feedbacks to the speaker. No one did. With no choice, the teacher on stage actually named the student who made the video, and we witness a dialogue between the speaker and the person who made the film. The dialogue exposed how shallow our film-maker-to-be was in this aspects, and also made be felt like someone evadropping on 2 people talking to each other.

Soon after, the "forum" ended and lessons resumed. How's that for Racial Harmony Hour? For all I know, Innova JC, one of the least prefered JCs actually had a carnival (reported on Channel NewsAsia!) that was even larger and more exciting than AJC's Family day.

If AJC want any good reputation they certainly don't know how to get it.

What day is it?

Walk around the school yesterday and ask anyone what day it is. Some will reply "Friday". A miserable few will say "Parents - Teachers Meeting Day".

Only one or two will say "Racial Harmony Day". So sad, this is the first time I am in a school that don't care about racial harmony. Even in Chinese High, where there are only chinese, we celebrate the Racial Harmony Day. Once, we even celebrated it together with WestSpring Secondary School, with a school - wide carnival.

I look at the second last page of Link Aj, they say "WHO SAYS AJCIANS DON"T HAVE FUN?" in capital letters. I look at the "fun" listed. I&E Day. Family Day. AJ Idol. International Friendship Day. Track and field day. 6 activities over 7 months. Not bad!

Lets explore it properly. AJ Idol is not a school wide event. Only those in the right sense of mind to listen to yucky singing will bother to stay up late to attend those stuffs at 5pm or 6pm. There won't be enough time to mug! International Friendship day celebration was just a bunch of AJCians from malaysia and india putting up a performance using MCV lesson. I appreicated their efforts and the dances were indeed nice, but can we call it National Friendship Hour instead? Since in only lasted for an hour. Stop using the word "day" when you mean an hour. Sports day is standard. Every schools have it. What is there to brag about? Sports day is the time of the year where we suddenly realise we belong to a house. Even my primary school don't brag about having a sports day. To be fair, I&E day was quite interesting, where we get to explore interesting stuffs with help from student guides. I think it is the only fun thing for the entire school in this period of 7months. Family Day? While other JC's family day attracted many students from our school to go, our own family day only attracted ourselves.

Fun? My friends from HCI and RJC have more fun. And they are more mug than me too. So where do I stand? Not enough fun and not enough mug? What is so good about that? This certainly does not justify the banner "AJC is simply the best." It is only "just another JC". Its not sucky or lousy, but a long way from the word "best".

*Updates*
Oh ok. I just went to http://www.schoolbuzz.com.sg/ and took a look at the activities. I saw this:
Racial Harmony Day
Details: 1. Student volunteers needed in ushering, handling tokens, speakers, MCs and to take care of setup in the AJC Auditorium for RHD during Mass Civics (21 July for JC1s and 25 July for JC2s). 2. For the fringe activities - to run the activities.
Teacher in charge: SABARIAH (MDM)

So our celebration is going to be just some performance during MCV again. Please edit the name and call it Racial Harmony Hour. We harmonise for an hour and thats it:)

Wheee...

If one who critises was critised that he was not perfect, and hence should not critise other people, shouldn't the one who critised the one who critised not critise too?

Abit chim. Hehe.

Accelerate, Wei Kiat

Continue to accelerate your pace to match and to go beyong that of the lovely TCHS days, despite having to study in an environment with backstabbish authority.

Now for the next episode of anime :)

Ok ok, I'm really tired to chiong tutorial until I'm 2 tutorials ahead of my maths pro gf. (Sorry dear). Also, physics tutorial I try to do more but charged particles really difficult. GP paper is damn hard! Very hard to rephrase everything. My language skills must be dropping because I had little practice(in the form of blogging). I'm thinking of trying some of the essays and posting them on my blog, because I don't want to trouble the GP teacher.

Ah. She recently return us unmarked newspaper articles reviews we did last year. Then on one of my reviews she wrote some brief notes about who never hand in etc. Curious, I asked her what it was about but she thought I was unhappy with her for returning the reviews a year after we submited it. Oh well, I was impressed by her ability to keep our worksheets for so long. I couldn't keep track of mine for more than a year.

Anyway, AJC amazingly finished the syllabus for most subjects already, so during lectures what the teachers did was to give us worksheets and solve them for us to see. No active thinking on our part. Just watching and copying. Very useful lectures. I love its ability to let my mind wonder around. The ghost in the class slept during all the lectures. This is because the chinese hungry ghost festival is around the corner and he need his sleep to recover his energy so that when the time comes, he can compete with other ghost for food and offerings. What a good strag.

AJC now has wireless! They say it was implemented because of students' suggestions. I happily told my friends from other jcs that AJC now has wireless, and they all "chey"ed and booed me. Wireless was already available in their schools when they join it last year. Maybe AJC students took too long to discover the lack of wireless so they only suggest it during the June Holidays. Anyway, I'm glad there's wireless access. Shall bring my laptop to school tomorrow to test it out.

Thats all for now. My dinner is luring me. Goodbye.

*Just 3~4 months in AJC left :) :( *

Tired

Eyes tired from playing too much computer games and watching too much animes. Must be time to turn myself into a TCHS-branded mugger soon. Although that word, "mugger" sounds like vuglarity to me, the approaching prelims and A levels virtually forced the mugger out of me.

I'm giving myself this week as the last week to enjoy life, then i shall brainwash myself to think that mugging can do for me in terms of enjoyment what maplestory, red alert 2 and animes cannot.

Going for a bath now. Then finish up the anime I'm watching. Life will no doubt go downhill now. Already my girlfriend is very stressed. I can never feel stress but I can sense other's frustations.

The political scene in Singapore has gone boring. Everyday is the usual "gov has the write to rebute" and "people must be responsible for what they say" and "you are not an internet chatroom". We have many problems, such as singapore being ranked one of the saddest countries, fellow citizens in 2 estates not having their upgrades (where is Singapore as ONE?) and other stuffs, but I seldom see news about it.

Actually, the absent of news regarding certain matters is mostly ignored. Students and adults alike are too busy with earning their money and memorising their book that they never take the time to think below the surface regarding what is happening around them. It is no wonder we see lots of government critics (and pervertic) uncles sitting at coffee shop talking cock... They have nothing else to do.

Much as I want to keep my sense sharpened all the time, mugging for alevel will no doubt dampen my preception of the world.

Weekend is here.
Anime is ready.
Time to watch.

Prelim is near.

Help is needed.

June Common Test, a perfectly low-classed name for Block tests, left me in a very confused state. On one hand, the result I scored is independent (better) of the amount of work I put in. On the other hand, I failed maths miserably.

Physics : D
Fuck it. This is such an unlucky grade! Whats more, I did study for physics! Should be wrong studying method ba. I studied using the textbooks last year, and got a B. I decided to give AJC lecture notes a try, and got a D. This illustrates the quality of notes given to us.

Maths: F
I just don't bother.

GP: C5.
1 More mark, and I'll be getting a B4. Ranked 3rd in class, and top 9% of the cohort. I never once listen to GP lectures or tutorial. This shows that sometimes lessons can corrupt your mind.

Computing: A
A very low A, but I must learn to be contented. Ranked 2nd in class (Sharing position with Kai Yang).

Two very bad grades. Two extremely good grades. All that and I'm the slackest in class. Buck up weikiat. Buck up 0205. Pull up the socks!

Mugging in AJC

Venues were set in AJC, but does not reflect the true state of AJC. Join the AJC Family to enjoy it. In other words, this entry is just plain nonsense.

Petter, a JC1 Ajcian is very happy today. Everything had been taken care of by the caring teachers. Templates and samples for documents in his PW examination was giving out, where students simply come up with little variety of the same essays. With the help he got from the school, there is no point in worrying about PW.

What forms the basis of his life is mugging, and AJC is the best place to do it. Not talking about those hot and stuffy outdoor tables and chairs, he can chose to go to mug in his homeroom, canteen, library or reading room. With 3 hours of break due to the wonderful manual time-tabling system in the school, he set off to find a perfect spot to mug.

He went to his air-conditioned homeroom, a room in the school assigned specifically for this class, and found some JC2 class using it.

He then went to the library, a wonderful place where AJCians can mug in a peaceful and quiet environment. After all, there are librarians around to ensure that you do not fall asleep or bring your water bottle into the library. Their arrival is marked by the loud footsteps of their pointed shoes though, so students can easily can out of harm's way or wake up before the librarians come near. The librarians also maintain silence in the library. However, due to the loud frequent chatters among the librarians and the occasional teacher that difted up from the second storey, he decided to make his leave and look out for a better place.

He went to the reading room next, and dashed immediately to the last available table. Many AJCians, like him, were happily mugging away in the reading room. Yet, the reading room is very noisy. His ears soon picked up many interesting snippets of conversations:

"EH! MY MAPLE WIZARD LEVEL 100 yesterday leh!"
"Yesterday that fucker KS me, i very bei song, call my guild. He ran away!"
"WAH LAO, maths so hard, i going to die..."
"DOTA DOTA DOTA! I love DOTA!"
"Did you do the tutorial 25? Question 10? Can teach me? The teacher don't want teach."
"Yesterday that girl on the stage, damn chio! I like!"
"Wah, how come so many people pretending to be mugging here?"
"AH??? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I'm BLASTING MY iPOD!"

Peter could not stand it anymore. He packed up his stuff, and left the market place. He went to the last best place to mug instead. The canteen. Unfortunately, the canteen was flooded with people. Students with food don't even have a place to sit, least those without food. Some tables were intentionally left empty though. Nobody use them. Those tables were filled with an assorted variety of birds dropping and random piece of food. Disappointed, Peter left.

"DANG DANG DANG DANG! DANG DANG DANG DANG! DANG DANG DANG DANG! DANG! DANG! DANG!"

That super long bell signifies the end of a 30minute period, and Peter decided to try his luck at the homeroom again.

He was in luck. The homeroom was deserted. The previous class had left the air-con running, so he happily went in to enjoy it. He completed his maths tutorial 26 by leaving all but one of the question blank, and wrote his GP essay on a topic he never heard of before. He happily took out his physics tutorial to do, and the classroom door opened.

A head stacked on a neck with a spectacle dangling around popped in! A creepy sight, no doubt, as it marked the entrance of the school's reknowned Operational Manager. The mouth on the head moved:

"Is there a lesson now? No lesson cannot use the air-con. The air-con can use only when there is a teacher. So any teacher in the school can receive full air-con coverage, from staff room to classrooms. Students only get air-con when they are in the same place as any teachers. Off it now. What is your name? I will also report this to the Welfare Head!"

Shocked, Petter ran. All the way home.

My World

I live in a world where chosen elites had their exam papers resized to ensure victory.
I live in a world where true freedom can only be exercised mainly during shopping.
I live in a world where the prime minister went to another country and start critising their prime minister, while refering to his own people as "immatured".
I live in a world where what the government wants and what the people want are two very different matters.
I live in a world where I see the word "fine" everywhere.
I live in a world full of pervertic middle-aged man.
I live in a world where creativity is scarce.
I live in a world where the prime minister earns many times more than that of the world's richest country.
I live in a world where many university students show no real capability.
I live in a world where most students study for money and not for education.
I live in a world where those around me have forgotten how to live.
I live in a world where locally produced TV dramas contain hidden government messages.
I live in a world where teachers refer to propaganda as "National Education".
I live in a world where conscription is refered to as "National Service".
I live in a world where people do community service just to increase their chance to go into junior colleges.
I live in a world where hundreds of people queue up for more than 10 hours to buy some hello kitties.
I live in a world where income gap kept widening and a blogger lost his job for saying so.
I live in a world where many intellectuals prefer to move to other countries.
I live in a world where people import slaves called "maid" to do their housework and start abusing them.
I live in a world racism and social unrest is atributed to freedom of speech.
I live in a world where the prime minister won an award for being the worst democrat.
I live in a world where blogging about how lousy your school is will get you expelled.

This is my world.
Is yours like mine too?

The One, not what people want.

The unchosen one.
Stood up unchallenged.
Not knowing what we want.
He smile and smile and smiled.

Then came the little worker.
Forgot to hand in his paper.
Got whacked by the smiling ones,
and thats not what people want.

People crying pay, pay, pay!
But money never come, come, come!
Yet the unchosen one asked us to smile.
Like a lunatic, ignorance of misery.

Readers Digest came and went,
Discover people's courtesy had waned.
All study and no play,
Make Singa not worth the pay.

Then the brownie came and speak people's word.
Government come and speak government words.
Why people and government not as one,
although that government is what people want?

Reflections

I find it hard to remain cheerful and happy nowadays, although I behave like a lunatic everyday. Stress is uncalled for in such a short life span, and I shall not waste my time behaving in a stressed manner. Yet, my girlfriend was unable to understand this, and seems to enjoy passing on her stresses to me. Not that I'm an uncaring boyfriend who do not care about my girlfriend, but seriously she should learn to look on the bright side of life.

Life happen only once. Enjoy it or waste it.

Unlike cells that make exact identical copies of itself, we human constantly pour our genes in a great mixing pot to create unique offsprings. Nature had it that every individual is unique, and the path in life for every individual is different. It is hence senseless to expect me to adhere to schools where students lost their sense of individually totally. Going through of test papers, which reflects individual's unique grasp of the subject was done in a factory manner - hundreds of students sitting in a lecture hall with a single teacher going through the paper. A thousand no for AJC treating students like factory products. When can they grasp the concept that individuals are called individuals because they are different? Even every single piece of droppings that came out of your other end has different shape.

The popularity of the game, The Wicked was a stepping stone for me, although it had came at a slightly wrong time. If it had happened just a year earlier, things would have been very different, and a new "upgrade" of the game which combines Web 2.0 concepts which I shall codename "The Wizard" (inspired by the now HOD of Phy in AJC) would have been rolled out early this year, allowing me to take my IT skills and recognition to a new height. Sadly good things have the habbit of leaping at you from behind a blind corner when you least expected it. Bad things too.

I never expected that expressing my personal opinion about AJC on my blog would cause such a stir in the lair. Afterall, I was talking about ABC Junior College all the time, and because the vice-prinicpal felt Anderson oddly ressembles ABC Junior College, she had to called me to her office and ask for cenorship. Now I can't even talk about many things about the school, or even draw the conclusion that the school sucks. Not that it really suck. Suck is an absolute word and should only be used with care. Nothing sucks, as long as you look hard enough to find something good. Saying that AJC is lousy is my own mistake as I never look hard enough.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, and those opinions need not be right or wrong. A personal blog is a place where ordinary people share their opinions with others. Unless you know first hand that those opinions are true, the opinions may be false, and there is no need to call for alarm. By asking me to meet her because of my blog, the simple gesture spoke more than a thousand words. But to put it simply,: she got worried.

Funny how my seemingly directionless entry kept flowing back to AJC. This is because AJC took up so much of my time, I could practically call it my second home, but AJC never treat its family members the way it should. Wait. Never is an absolute word. I'm sure some fortunate souls would be treated very nicely by the school. Just like how the councillors ordered KFC during the Total Defence drill when the rest of the students had to survive on sweet potatoes. (Got this from 0705student blog.)

0205 Service Learning

Yesterday our class went to GAY(Land) to do Service Learning as part of the community involvement programme in AJC.

My duty was to stay at the GAY(Land) West CC and keep track of the progress of my team. I considered myself lucky did not turn into a CC because of the ghost haunting the area despite spending a better part of the day stoning around at the CC.

A CC guy treated us drinks and chicken rice, so I shall refer to him as the nice guy. Another CC guy who is actually from our class remains a CC guy.

I brought my laptop there to suck the CC's power by playing Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge and Half Life 2. I had very little to do because the kiddies in my team were really kiddies and I pity Ani and Si Hui for having taken them on. Yet, I respect Ani's and Si Hui's ability to handle those kids. I doubt I can do as well as them.

Sick and tired of games, I went out the the nearby shops and invested 20cents on the buying of a super bouncy ball. We had alot of fun with it for around 2hours before the ball had enough of us and splitted into two. It provided a good learning experience as I never look at what is inside the bouncy balls before, although I had been playing with them since I know the existence of my own balls.

Finally, I went back to playing the games, and went home suffering from over-exertion of palm, a common suffering of people who are too bored playing the computer for too long.

All in all, I enjoyed the SL and thanks AJC for giving me this chance to grow sick and tired of playing Yuri's Revenge and Half-Life 2 so that I can finally concentrate on doing something else during my free time. I certainly do not mind having another similar SL, as it too trained my resistance to ward of evil curses and ghosts.

GP Ownage

Reknown for slacking and not listening to any GP teachers, be it during lectures or tutorials, and not understand the complexity and usefulness of techniques for writing such as PRE and SPECTRA taught exclusively by AJC teachers, my common test script which was marked by the GP HOD got positioned myself as top student (for compo) in class. This is wonderfully amazing, and I felt that I ill deserve the thunderous round of applause brought to me by my wonderful classmates.

Jun Zhe, the other guy who's from TCHS in my class, managed to top the class in comprehension. Together, we owned AJC 0205 GP. Yeah! TCHS ROCKS!

Btw, I spent some time preparing my porfolio, and you may download it using the link on the right.

"Wei kiat, did something happen to you during the June holidays?"

So said my GP teacher today, when she discovered I was the only one in class who bothered to go to IVLE and attempt the GP reading materials on freedom of speech. Ultimately, it is one of a normal blogger's favourite topic.

Anyway, the first 4 questions regarding an incohesive passage was quite hard to answer, so i answered in an incohesive manner. Then I was too lazy to do the AQ before promptly falling asleep.

Strange how work can induce sleep. I should be able to make a fortune selling homework as remedy to those with lack of sleep.

Anyway, I am now desperately looking for music to fill up all those extra minidiscs I bought. It may not look that good in the photos, but they were real chio in real life. I may even be purchasing some cute MDs from japan, just to add on to my collection. Currently more than 5 MDs which are blank.

I think the AJC authorities had problems understanding art. The current colour scheme looks cool, but the shade of green they used on all the doors reminded me of military bunkers. I'm not the only one with such thoughts. HOD of phy also mentioned it.

Life has became more and more stressful for me, as there were always a never ending list of todos which exclude school work. This is alarming and highly unbearable as there are tonnes of maths and physics tutorials to catch up with. Its pretty lucky that really only had to bother with 2 subjects: maths and phys. The rest are too easy to give a damn.

I went to 0705 recently and found them talking about the guy who mailed to the press regarding the sex talk. While my name was quoted without my prior knowledge, he purposely send in his letter to destroy the school's reputation. Shouldn't something "nice" happen to him? Still i felt he is a damn cool guy and led eventful life, being backstabbed by friends and all. He even actively seek out the vp to talk to her about possible suggestions and changes to the school, although nothing seemed to work.

On the tagboard he mentioned that the "late dismissal from afternoon pe" was fixed due to a petition, and we can see from this that the school is willing to accept suggestions. For god's sake. This is not a suggestion. This is an error fix. In programming terms we call it "debugging". When something went wrong you had to fix it. Suggestion is a totally different thing.

While talking about those active anti-ajc sentiments out there, I must be careful not to input anything on my own, or be disrespectful to the school, since the VP had warn me of the terrible consequences. So I'll only be commenting on what other AJCians are saying.

Anyway, there was one point i found really misleading. The VP told me that the brief period of pest problem was due to students eating in classrooms:
thanks for your alert to the rats, that is precisely why the OM has
to stop students eating in the container blocks. Now you can see how a
small inconsiderate group can cause a lot of inconvenience to the community
at large even thought the college is putting in so much manpower to do the
cleaning.

However, in The Chinese High School, our wonderful councillors successfully pass the motion of allowing students to eat in their classrooms. Even when chinese high has the largest school campus in the whole of singapore (More than 10X AJC's) we never once experience any pest problem. So I think the VP was wrong here. Students eating in classroom won't give rise to pest problems. Anyway, the pest problem was recitified, and I was too lazy to email her for clarification. Anyway, in AJC, it would be safer not to eat in classrooms since our councillors are less efficent. I understand that nothing in a neigbourhood school (AJC) can be compared to an individual school (TCHS) so I shouldn't really compare the two.

Ah.. All this blogging has gotten me nervous. The government had already sent the message with many examples; the racist cartoons, Mr Brown, etc. Say one word wrongly, and you die. We can watch racist movies (Da Vinci Code), watch and talk about PAP election and policies (All those TV shows with the 2 Lees), but not view a shorter video from the SDP, post racist remarks or enjoy any real freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech has corroded to such an extend that freedom of speech (class licensing and all) is just another system of control in Singapore.

Someone got struck by lightning when he was using iPod, and he publicity accused Apple. Did Apple sue him? No. Talking about the negative aspects of AJC lended me in the VP's office and threats of expulsion. No way in hell I am going to do it again.

I'm slave to control.

So it seemed, that the safest thing you can post on your blog in this decayed Singaporean Society are photos you took yourself. Which is what I am doing. Meaningless uninteresting photos. Then later without a good alternative for information on the internet, whats left but the state controlled media?

We were just one step short of having a 2-way telly-screen.

Wah pian eh... No joke ok. So much thing to do I rather no holiday. Are all these e-learning? Last time in chinese e-learning we have complete lesson packages, not just ask you do or ask you read. Our english teacher even conduct lesson via MSN messenger! Hows that for effective outside school teaching?

AJC leh.. GP just select a few essays of similar themes, teacher read through the passage and shot out a few questions ask us do. Bleh.

Then i came across the little bird blog, the blog that gives massive spoilers to my game. And here's what the smart-ass is saying:

Again, consideration was not given to the clever people who know how much better and more efficient the Dvorak keyboard is compared to the QWERTY ones. If anything, this is proof that having an IQ of 137 is useless if you don't fill your naturally gifted brain with knowledge. Oh well, it's his quiz anyway.

Since he is so clever is he using a Dvorak keyboard? Don't be an ass. How common are Dvorak keyboards nowadays? Knowing the miserable little knowledge that Dvorak are better, he thinks that i should create the puzzle based on Dvorak keyboards? Lol.. That will be a very effective way to show that I am an idiot who do not know what keyboard most singaporeans used. Obviously he is still living in a dream world where everyone are using Dvorak, although that sounds more unbelieveable than the fact that he is just an idiot.

You can either keep refreshing the page or if you had FF, select the words and click View selection source. There is a javascript hidden here to generate a random number which determine if the answer is to be reveal. formal? Just plain trick to keep the traffic up in that page.

Haha.. this is refering to one of the levels where the users need to refresh mutiple times for the answer to appear. Well.. if this is any silly attempt to up the traffic, I would have make such a system on the front page, not hidden somewhere in the last few pages where advertisers would not be interested in the stats.

Silly people and their silly talks. Lol!

Surnames

How come people of the same surnames never help each other this time?

Mr Brown's Legacy

THINGS are certainly looking up for Singapore again. Up, up, and away.

Household incomes are up, I read. Sure, the bottom third of our country is actually seeing their incomes (or as one newspaper called it, "wages") shrink, but the rest of us purportedly are making more money.

Okay, if you say so.

As sure as Superman Returns, our cost of living is also on the up. Except we are not able to leap over high costs in a single bound.

Cost of watching World Cup is up. Price of electricity is up. Comfort's taxi fares are going up. Oh, sorry, it was called "being revised". Even the prata man at my coffeeshop just raised the price of his prata by 10 cents. He was also revising his prata prices.

So Singaporeans need to try to "up" their incomes, I am sure, in the light of our rising costs. Have you upped yours?

We are very thankful for the timing of all this good news, of course. Just after the elections, for instance. By that I mean that getting the important event out of the way means we can now concentrate on trying to pay our bills.

It would have been too taxing on the brain if those price increases were announced during the election period, thereby affecting our ability to choose wisely.

The other reason I am glad with the timing of the cost of living increases and wages going down, is that we can now deploy our Progress Package to pay for some of these bills.

Wait, what? You spent it all on that fancy pair of shoes on the day you saw your money in your account? Too bad for you then.

As I break into my Progress Package reserves to see if it is enough to pay the bills, I feel an overwhelming sense of progress. I feel like I am really staying together with my fellow Singaporeans and moving forward.

There is even talk of future roads like underground expressways being outsourced to private sector companies to build, so that they, in turn, levy a toll on those of us who use these roads.

I understand the cost of building these roads is high, and the Government is relooking the financing of these big road projects.

Silly me, I thought my road tax and COE was enough to pay for public roads.

Maybe we can start financing all kinds of expensive projects this way in future. We could build upgraded lifts for older HDB blocks, and charge tolls on a per use basis.

You walk into your new lift on the first floor, and the scanner reads the contactless cashcard chip embedded in your forehead. This chip would be part of the recently-announced Intelligent Nation 2015 plan, you know, that initiative to make us a smart nation?

So you, the smart contactless-cashcard-chip-enhanced Singaporean would go into your lift, and when you get off at your floor, the lift would deduct the toll from your chip, and you would hear a beep.

The higher you live, the more expensive the lift toll.

Now you know why I started climbing stairs for exercise, as I mentioned in my last column. I plan to prepare for that day when I have to pay to use my lift. God help you if some kid presses all the lift buttons in the lift, as kids are wont to do. You will be beeping all the way to your flat.

The same chip could be used to pay for supermarket items. You just carry your bags of rice and groceries past the cashierless cashier counter, and the total will be deducted from your contactless cashcard automatically.

You will not even know you just got poorer. And if your contactless cashcard runs out of funds (making it a contactless CASHLESS cashcard), you just cannot use paid services.

The door of the lift won't close, the bus won't stop for you, taxis will automatically display "On Call" when their chip scanners detect you're broke.

Sure, paying bills that only seem to go up is painful, but by Jove, we are going to make sure it is at least convenient.

No more opening your wallet and fiddling with dirty notes and coins. Just stand there and hear your income beeped away. No fuss, no muss! I cannot wait to be a Smart e-Singaporean.

I also found out recently that my first-born daughter's special school fees were going up. This is because of this thing called "Means Testing", where they test your means, then if you are not poor enough, you lose some or all of the subsidy you've been getting for your special child's therapy.

I think I am looking at about a $100 increase, which is a more than a 100 per cent increase, but who's counting, right? We can afford it, but we do know many families who cannot, even those that are making more money than we are, on paper.

But don't worry. Most of you don't have this problem. Your normal kids can go to regular school for very low fees, and I am sure they will not introduce means testing for your cases.

We need your gifted and talented kids to help our country do well economically, so that our kids with special needs can get a little more therapy to help them to walk and talk. And hey, maybe if the country does really well, the special-needs kids will get a little more subsidy.

Like I said, progress.

High-definition televisions, a high-speed broadband wireless network, underground expressways, and contactless cashcard system — all our signs of progress.

I am happy for progress, of course but I would be just as happy to make ends meet and to see my autistic first-born grow up able to talk and fend for herself in this society when I am gone.

That is something my wife and I will pay all we can pay to see in our lifetimes.

Mr Brown

mr brown's views on all these issues distort the truth.

K BHAVANI
Press Secretary to the Minister for Information, Communications

Erm, so the press secretary is saying the rising cost of living and widening income gaps are "distorted" and hence not the truth?

Whee.. Life is very very interesting.

Mr Brown

"Distorting the truth," says the government.
"thanks for say what all of us are thinking - and feeling." says the people

The original Mr Brown article, "S'poreans are fed, up with progress!"
http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2006/07/today_sporeans_.html#more

Letter from K BHAVANI
Press Secretary to the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts

Your mr brown column, "S'poreans are fed, up with progress!" (June 30) poured sarcasm on many issues, including the recent General Household Survey, price increases in electricity tariffs and taxi fares, our IT plans, the Progress Package and means testing for special school fees.

The results of the General Household Survey were only available after the General Election. But similar data from the Household Expenditure Survey had been published last year before the election.

There was no reason to suppress the information. It confirmed what we had told Singaporeans all along, that globalisation would stretch out incomes.

mr brown must also know that price increases in electricity tariffs and taxi fares are the inevitable result of higher oil prices.

These were precisely the reasons for the Progress Package — to help lower income Singaporeans cope with higher costs of living.

Our IT plans are critical to Singapore's competitive position and will improve the job chances of individual Singaporeans. It is wrong of mr brown to make light of them.

As for means testing for special school fees, we understand mr brown's disappointment as the father of an autistic child. However, with means testing, we can devote more resources to families who need more help.

mr brown's views on all these issues distort the truth. They are polemics dressed up as analysis, blaming the Government for all that he is unhappy with. He offers no alternatives or solutions. His piece is calculated to encourage cynicism and despondency, which can only make things worse, not better, for those he professes to sympathise with.

mr brown is entitled to his views. But opinions which are widely circulated in a regular column in a serious newspaper should meet higher standards. Instead of a diatribe mr brown should offer constructive criticism and alternatives. And he should come out from behind his pseudonym to defend his views openly.

It is not the role of journalists or newspapers in Singapore to champion issues, or campaign for or against the Government. If a columnist presents himself as a non-political observer, while exploiting his access to the mass media to undermine the Government's standing with the electorate, then he is no longer a constructive critic, but a partisan player in politics.

Sian

Today is a damn sian day, with the holidays over. ZZ.. Almost couldn't wake up today. Too used to sleeping late and waking late. Guess I'll try to slowly adjust back my body clock.

Yeah! AJC declaring holiday on thursday. But shit. Have to go down to CMPB on thurs for follow up checkup. It is no coincident that my attendance is so perfect, as i have the weird ability to miss every chance I have to pon school. Sian ah.

The Wicked

Ah.. finally Desmond Wong, President, Organise4U (Online Social Club) replied to my email regarding adspace offers in The Wicked. Yeah.. if successful i may bring me enough to buy a PSP/NDS. :)

Also, i'm going to force myself to sit down and work on the second commercial spin-off of game under my popular The Wicked branding. It will be an sms version designed for M1. I promised to send them 5~10 levels this week to test out the system and for review before we decide on the price package. They also seems to be interested in advertising on The Wicked.

SPH advertised STOMP on The Wicked for just $670 for 2 months.

Anyway, still waiting for $500 check.

Mr Lim promoted!

Whee. Guess that is the most interesting developement in AJC. Mr Lim, our wonderful phy teacher is promoted to the HOD of physics. I think he well-deserved it, as he is the only one who managed to captivate the students' attention with nonsense that makes sense. He is also very good at putting across tough concepts.

I must be very lucky. Mr Steven Su, my phy teacher from TCHS was real wonderful too. He even made a fool of himself by pretending to be an elephant and a small fly when explaining the penetration of gamma rays and alpha rays. He would often say that "even the gorrillas in the congo jungle know how to use the ruler". A very humourous man. I love physics as a result of wonderful and inspiring teachers.

Interesting, Mr Lim asked me about my blog today, whether I still blog. His sudden interest me my blog seems to be indicative that he had caught wind of my blogging incident. Mr Lim is never a direct man.

Anyway, this left me feeling betrayed. Staff of AJC who knew about the incident and capable of backstabbing people can be counted with fingers on one hand.

16 Months

Today is 2 July, marking the 16th month i'm spending with my dear. Over the last week, I enjoyed sweating cold sweat during the maths test, breezing through the physics and computing paper, and grinning happily at the typical AJC GP essay question (Computer gaming) and my favourite topic for the AQ (freedom of speech), which i doubt any tom, dick and harry of the wonderful college would know much about.

Many are limited to The Straits Times, a government controlled popular newspaper. We kept hearing everything that is good going up. Is it too good to be true if the signs hanging on a Noodle Stall claims that it increases the amount of ingredient everyday without increasing the price?

Once you open your eyes, take a look at the far reaching internet, you will discover things are not always what you thought it was. Take for example, the GRC system. To a poltically blind Singaporean, GRC is definitely a fair and just system. But, Goh has publicly affirmed that GRCs allocation are meant to increase the chance of their "young talents" winning the elections.

Their(GRCs role is not just to ensure minorities are adequately represented in Parliament. They also contribute to Singapore's political stability, by 'helping us to recruit younger and capable candidates with the potential to become ministers'.

'Without some assurance of a good chance of winning at least their first election, many able and successful young Singaporeans may not risk their careers to join politics,'

Goh (Those in inverted commas are direct quotations from Lee)

So you meant the so-called talents that you have carefully dug out were actually just some youngsters who don't dare to take the any test because they may fail? Certainly the almightly MOE never prepare students to be like that? No! I'm not saying bad things about the government. If i dislike it i'll just leave. Since I'm still in S'pore I do not dislike S'pore government. I loved it to much. Can't bear to part with it.

It is worthly to note, however, that AJC is a school that never produces such youngsters. That is a very big feature of AJC, and I'm proud to be in it.

That aside, something interesting occured at Lee's visit to Austrial as well.
You look at their politics in Australia between Howard and Beazley. All the time, Howard says something, Beazley says he got it wrong

PM Lee

Prime Minister Howard spends all his time dealing with this party politics. The result is you don't have a lot of time to worry about the long-term future

PM Lee

Endless debates are seldom about achieving a better grasp of the issue but to score political points

PM Lee

f we only talk about national interest and put it above party politics, in theory, that is ideal - but in reality, that's impossible. And that's why you end up having HDB priority (for lift upgrading) and a difference between the PAP and Opposition wards. It's necessary. Without that, the system cannot work.

PM Lee (I would need clarification regarding what "system canno work" when there is no DB priority, and what is life upgrading the "difference between the PAP and opposition wards"?)

This is the PM Lee that we have voted for, and Austrialia seems to be the country that many singaporeans are flying to.

Me and LinkAJ

haha..a long story..shall i keep the suspense going...?

the plot goes like this: the feature article on you (with the big, big photo) appeared, some teachers recognised you even though the college name didn't appear in the article (we were quite puzzled about this) & i commented to mr any quek, who was there, that that particular photo bore a strong resemblance to him. this detail is key to why i remembered the article. i was having lunch then, and rushing off to class. so, no time to read the article. subsequently, i was still too busy to read the article. i remembered the summary of the article mr quek obligingly gave to me while i gobbled down lunch. newspaper got sold to karang guni man : (

the plot thickens..: was conceptualising the july linkaj issue with ms toh say fern. had a brain wave and wanted a new focus for the issue: students who do things a little differently. i had in mind jonathan who organised the organ transplant talk, recalled some jc1 girls who wanted to start on a project outside of school and i remembered the article in the straits times.

point of no return ('crisis' in drama term): inspiration did not translate into action immediately. when the designer for the newsletter came down, i still didn't have any more info than i did when i first suggested the story for linkaj. but, i did something. i asked the designer to keep the centrespread blank for my story. now, that's the point of no return, because, you see, once the page is kept blank, i had no choice but to write THAT article!!

resolution: now that i've got info, the articles will be written (my weekend task). So, the photo has to be in or linkaj will have no chance of being ready by mid july....so, waiting, waiting for the photos...

Ms LimSP

M1 and me

So yeah, I got hooked up with M1. Now trying to squeeze my brain juices to churn out puzzles under The Wicked branding that are suitable for handphone play. Yes. An sms version of The Wicked.

Of course this kind of thing ultimately boils down to the payment. Otherwise do for what? I would have spend all my time constructive weird machinaries in Garry's Mod (For HL2) and re-playing Red Alert 2, the most fun war game I ever played. Tonnes of interesting strags, including building base defences right at your enemies' base=D

Common test is over, life's getting better. Yippy!
