Today earn money very shong.

Today marks my first attempt to earn some solid cash during this school holiday. It is also want of the most exciting, as well as most frustrating day in this holiday. Let me give u a detailed break down of the last hours of Lee Si Hui's monitor, which died today, following the death of its CPU.

1pm

I arrived at poh wei's house, tok cock with poh chiat, the computer assembler and exchanged some games, before setting off by bus to sim lim square.

2.20pm
We arrived at the shop pretty early, so we took the time looking at the 3 shop keepers who never once look at us. One of them finally noticed us and dump us a list and a highlighter, to highlight the parts we need.

3pm

We bought the parts, chosing a CPU casing+power supply from a brand named i-Cute. However, its cuteness is highly in doubt, while our frustration is in no doubt.

3.30pm
Moving slowly and toking cock near the taxi stand, we finally decided on the amount of our profit and move on to take taxi. The taxi driver is extremely interested in us, saying now students are helping people assemble comp and earning money for themselves, snatching business from adults from sim lim. It doesn't help much if i were to say that there are no student taxi drivers around and i wouldn't like to be one when i grow up. He also commented that when he was a child, there is practically nothing to do during holidays. They are too poor to go out. So they camp at home. Going school give them purpose and take up their time. They are happy when school re-open. I would whack anyone who say that to me now, unless he or she is a nursery student where playing toys are allowed. I love the toys my nursery gave me to play with.

When we alighted from the taxi, the driver suddenly said, "Good luck." However, the amount of luck he gave was highly insufficently. If taxi drivers have so much luck i think most of them won't be taxi driver. But the one we met was quite friendly. Should have given him a tip. Did you watch news yesterday?

3.55pm
We reached. She lives on the 13 floor so our lucks are safely neutralised. She was not home, but her parents were in. We started work. Her very kind parents ask us if we want coffee or water. We asked for water, but they gave us Coke. There is obviously a higher class definitation of water that low class people like me never heard of. Anyway, poh chiat started by fixing the processor on the motherboard, then the fan onto the processor. this is a dangerous step. If too much pressure was applied, the processor might snap and 146bucks down the drain. It was very hard to fit in, and the fan did not have a proper latch to secure the fan onto the board well. Next, unlike other casings, our budget super cute casing does not include a tray to screw the harddrive on, before screwing it to the casing. So we have to secure the harddrive in midair by 4 little screws. There were initially many problems fixing the harddrive, as the gap between the harddrive and the metal walls to secure it were too big, but we managed to solve it. Then we need to put in the cd and diskette drive, and discover there is NO mechanism for removing the front cover for us to insert the drives. My solution, rip the damn thing off. This is precisely what i did, and precisely the correct solution. So we put the drives and force the front cover back in. It fited nicely. Then horrors of horrors! We discovered that i-Cute, in order to cut cost, did not even include an IDE-Sata power convertor that cost less than 1buck. So we when back to sls to get it. ZZZ.. lucky Si hui gave us extra money for this. She is extremely kind and generous. =D.

7.00pm
Reached SLS

7.37pm
At student meal at BK

8.00pm
We walk to the taxi stand.

8.36pm
We finally boarded a taxi.

9pm
We reach her house, fit in everything, and turn on the power. The comp did not work. After much meddling, i discovered i plug it into a non working power socket. Ok. Now the computer can work. We tried installing XP. Then the ever smart XP tells us that harddrive is not detected. Ok, after must frustration this problem was fixed, and XP was promptly installed. Fine. After installing some programs from my MD, we tested the audio. It was not working. So there we go, open up the case again, fix it, and close in back. Ok. Now it was working like a charm.

11pm
We left the house

11.05pm
Si hui called me and say there is no display on the monitor.

11.10pm
We back at si hui house. I concluded that monitor is dead.

11.20pm
Poh chiat also concluded monitor is dead.

11.25pm
Gave up and left. Si hui say she will ask her bro try with another monitor, which is currently not in her house

12am
Reached CCK Mrt. What a long day.
