One of many
One of the many emails i received.
just passing by to tell you I reached the end of the wicked. I goes under the name crazy on your forum.
Im a 33yr old Norwegian dude. I came over a link to your "game" on sitepoint forum and desided I would give it a try. It was good to relax a bit from my writings, and I found your wicked enjoyable :)
I've been into computers since 1984, but it dident really take off until the internet was opened to the public.
Problem solving.. I usually dont play this kind of games in a game meaning, but I have always been a thinker and I needed to clear my brain, so then I desided to try this journey.
I think it was interesting and enjoyable and I had a lot of fun :)
Worst level was lvl53, in my humble opinion, I think it took me almost 5 days to figure it out and the longest session I had in front of my computer during that level was over 26 hours.
Well, I just wanted to let you know :)
Now I can go back to my own life again, and finish my writings :D
Keep up your good work, I wish more people could focus on being creative :)

The Terrible Sun
The flag raising lasted for around 30minutes, enough for me to dread the dreadful sun.
(Above is a 1.2MB flash. Will take some time to load)
This flash is made using 2 seperately taken photo, and was not doctored in any way.
Someone fainted because of the sun, while the principal was talking about public's positive feedbacks about the school.
Helpful teachers surrounded him, cutting off a fresh flow of air to the poor boy, and chased students away to prevent further lack of oxygen. They tried to help by elevating his head so that more blood will go to the legs. Maybe with more blood in his legs he can stand?
Anyway, I stood forward to tell the teachers the right way to do it(elevating the legs, not the head), they elevated both and cause the blood to rush to the guy's heart. I had to remove the bag (used to elevate the head) myself.
And i got praised by a teacher=D
Whipee!
Doing good for the school.
Now its school's turn to pay it forward.
The sun sucks!

Student faces expulsion for Web post
May 23, 2006

A 17-year-old student who posted on his blog site that he was being bullied and threatened by the Plainfield School District will face an expulsion hearing this week, a local attorney said.
Superintendent John Harper, who cannot comment on student cases, said the district will take action if it believes there is a safety issue. Meanwhile a spokesman for the American Civil Liberties Union said school districts must be careful not to discipline students on matters that occur outside school. The student's attorney believes Plainfield School District is overstepping its boundaries.
"The district is going to take away the student's education for exercising his freedom of speech," said attorney Carl Buck. "I feel like they are trying to control his freedom of speech. ... He is saying, 'You can't bully people and we have a right to object and you can't throw people out of school for voicing their opinions.'"
On May 1, the student posted a letter to Plainfield School District on www.xanga.com , telling off the district, using vulgar words and saying he could put whatever he wanted on his site.
On a second post on May 2, without mentioning the school the student wrote: "I feel threatened by you, I cant even have a public Web page with out you bullying me and telling me what has to be removed. Where is this freedom of speech that this government is sworn to uphold? ... Did you ever stop to think this will start a community backlash? The kids at Columbine did what the did because they were bullied. ... In my opinion you are the real threat here. None of us ever put in our xanga's that they were going to kill or bring harm to any one. We voiced our opinions. You are the real threat here. you are depriving us of our right to learn. now stick that in your pipe and smoke it."
Sites like www.myspace.com and www.xanga.com are blocked from most school district computers. These sites are controversial because students often post too much information -- everything from addresses and phone numbers to provocative photos -- making them vulnerable to sexual predators.
"Our beef is it wasn't a threat. It wasn't at school," Buck said. "He doesn't name any individuals. What he is commenting on is their disciplinary action on the Freedom of Speech."
The student's mother said the district suspended her son for 10 days for inappropriate comments and vague threats. She thinks the school is overreacting. "I asked, 'If this is such a serious threat, did you call the FBI?' They said, 'No, we don't have time for this.' I asked, 'Did you call the Joliet police?' and they said, 'no.'"
In most cases, posting strong feelings and opinions on the Internet is not a crime, said Fred Hayes, deputy chief for Joliet Police Department. "Now, they can post it on a Web site. We are not seeing an explosion of new feelings or expressions from students. What you are seeing is the availability of technology to share that with quite a few people," Hayes said.
"It is not a crime to write things on the Internet – though we find them offensive, troubling and disheartening, it is not a crime," Hayes said.
Still, it's a very fine line. "If a student wrote, 'I'm so frustrated I wish the school would blow up' — that would not be a crime," Hayes explained. However, "if a student were to post on a Web site ... at 2 p.m. a bomb will go off in a school -- that would probably cross a line to a crime."

Singapore-made brainteaser hits cult status
Singapore teen Tay Wei Kiat tells SERENE LUO why his riddle is absolutely Wicked
It took only a few hours to create, is not even two months old, but has already attracted some 70,000 visitors.
JC student Tay Wei Kiat is just 18 but has created a popular online riddle that is gaining cult status among Singaporeans here, as well as with people as far away as Russia. The name of the game - The Wicked - is a play on his own name. -- PHOTO: SERENE LUO
The biggest surprise: this online game called The Wicked is the creation of Singapore's own teenager Tay Wei Kiat. He is only 18.
In fact, this puzzle at (http://weikiat. ikueb.com/thewicked) is one of the biggest cult status activities to sweep the virtual world, especially in Singapore.
Solve the riddle on one level to get to the next, and keep at it until you have broken the entire code. Simple but addictive.
Blog entries by youths compare the levels they have achieved and there are even websites from Germany asking for help with some of the riddles. The game has even got a mention in online community encyclopaedia, Wikipedia.
All because this junior college student, who picked up bits and pieces of computing when he was in Secondary One, felt bored one night.
'I did the first eight levels in five hours and sent it to some of my friends to test it out,' said Wei Kiat.
'Some of them were very interested and solved them quickly, then asked for more. But there were also those who couldn't get through the levels, and maybe that's why they weren't interested!'
According to Wei Kiat, more than half of his visitors are from Singapore; the others come from places like the United States, Germany, China and even Ireland and Myanmar.
The idea of the online puzzle is not new. One of the more popular ones called Not Pron has been around since 2004, has 138 levels and has had more than 8.7 million page views.
Comparatively, Wei Kiat's puzzle is but a baby - born on March 18 this year, it has 55 levels and 320,000 page views.
But it is his focus on 'lateral thinking' and his 'unique style' that keeps them coming back for more, said student Gan Soon Bing, 20, who is waiting to enter university.
'The game concept isn't entirely new,' he said. '(But it is) one that is a promising development from our country.
Level 1: All's white.
Level 2: Look inside me.
Level 5: The answer is obvious.
'I admire him (Wei Kiat) for having even thought of such an idea. This kind of creativity is really a relative unknown in Singapore.'
The Wicked requires the player to have some knowledge of computing skills, such as knowing about cookies or Cascading Style Sheets, which led to some players crying foul - that they were handicapped because they did not know computing.
Which then led to The Wicked Junior being born - a similar online puzzle, but it uses puns on language instead, and consists of contributions from some players.
People trying to solve them have formed a small community on the game's forums, and they frequently compare battle stories about how they have sat up many a night trying to break a code, or begging others for hints.
'Usually a simple level follows after a difficult level,' said 16-year-old student Terh Yee Jiunn, saying that that was a 'good tactic as it keeps players staying tuned to the game because it's not too difficult that people give up half-way nor too simple that people solving it have no satisfaction'.
Controversy started when one blogger, Mr Gabriel Seah, managed to break codes to more than half of the game and posted the answers on his blog.
'I suddenly found a lot of people solving the puzzle and wondered what was happening,' said Wei Kiat. 'At first I was real angry, because if you give out the answer, what's the point of playing the game?'
But after some discussion with Mr Seah, Wei Kiat managed to get him to stop posting further answers.
The budding programmer now hopes to be able to get advertisers, so as to support the hosting and bandwidth for his site, as well as to further his programming hobby.
Modestly, though, referring to what he calls his rudimentary skills and newbie status, he said: 'So far I'm still a noob.'

When is my DH10P going to come?
What happened to election holidays?
HCI they have election holiday on tuesday, sports day full day on wednesday.
SCGS have election holiday on wednesday.
Many other schools also have election holidays.
Election holiday for schools is actually a holiday given to schools, and the prinicipal and chose whether or not to go ahead with the holiday, and which day they want it to be on.
In AJC, there were no mention of election holiday at all.
Another reason why AJC is mugger school!
BUT BUT BUT! Everyone got a briefing on how message can be rallied by the PD tutor to the rest of the class in case of "bird flu" where the school closes right?
I am speculating that our election holiday will come as a surprise next week in the form of a bird flu drill, and we have to do e-learning of some sort at home.
Bo liao!!!!
But still i must be thankful for this "surprise" holiday, I can now ask my dad for 4 days' pocket money, instead of 3. I shall absorb one day of pocket money.
Thank you AJC.
HAHAHAHA..
But really if there is no extra holiday next week, no thanks AJC.

TCHS
Went back to my alma mater, the school I have grown to treasure and love, to watch Poh Wei's harmoc performance. I must say, he really improved by leaps and bounces from last year, and I spurred him on by various shouts of his name, which he received with a great smile on the stage. :)
Here are some photos I took while walking around the school to bring back old memories.

SPH
Today I went to SPH after school with buddy Jun Zhe for photo taking for my next week's appearance in Digital Life. Reached Braddel MRT and met up with Serence Luo, the journalist. We toured the wonderful SPH buiding and all the facilities inside. Very wonderful! Their cafe even have Spineilli(donno how to spell) inside. I also visited a pool room, a gym room and an aerobics room. But what impressed me most was the sheer size of their main office. It looks like the staff room in TCHS blown up a few hundred time, complete with the signature spiral stairs.
Below are some pictures for you to enjoy.
Those interesting vaults in the library. Turn the handle to move the shelves. I almost squashed someone when I played with it. These are dangerous!
Their packed, messy but orderly office.
A view on their ROOF TOP.
