3rd Student Forum
Student forum is an interesting way for the councillors in AJC to get feedback from the fellow student population. Interesting things were raised.
First off, everyone was seated in the Audi. I looked at the screen and saw the seating plans for each classes. I saw they have allocated some classes to sit on the staircase. They even box up the staircase and wrote a number on it. 22. 24. 27. Three seperate boxes with different numbers. At this together and you get the number of students who had to SIT ON THE FLOOR IN AND AUDITORUM. Amazing isn't it. What's more amazing is around 2~4 classes are seated on make shift-chairs squeezed at any place available. They can't even see the stage from the position. Our school councillors rock. And there they are, the president of the councillors looking proud and snobbish on the stage in her seat, while others are cramped down there like primary school students. Wonderful, i must say. Wonderful.
Someone said that AJC is a mugger school. Like duh. Ajc is indeed a mugger school. A school that only claims to mug. The truth is that for those bunch of monkeys right here in AJC, this is the first time they really work hard. They have never really work so hard before in their life, and hence they feel they are mugging. Truth is, they are in fact less mug than the rest of the top JCs. Their result shows. The lack of successful scholarship applications shows. AJC isn't muggish at all. Get that straight people.
Then some hero came. He suggested that there is nothing wrong with mugging. In AJC, muggers have life. I was like wondering what kind of life he led prior to coming to AJC. Even guys over at HCI had more activities for school and class bonding than us. The activities, such as family day, cca carnival, movie screening is in fact minimal when compared to other JCs. Ignorant monkeys don't know that of course.
When asked if councillors would organise more activities for the school, they will say that they have so and so constrains and hence unable to do certain things. It seems to me that what they are trying to do is to escape their own problem. They are councillors. They are suppose to work pass constrains and look after the welfare of the students. They are unable to do it and are giving themselves easy excuses.
This is the 3rd time we are having such forum, yet nothing, absolutely nothing discussed in the previous forums were implemented. Someone raised this, and the councillor's response was we raised problems but did not provide solution. How are they going to help us? I was thinking, the councillors exists to address the student's problem. If they are unable to come up with solutions, and expect us to do so for them, then what are councillors for? Everyone can be his own councillor.
All in all, the Students' Forum turn out to be like a debating fight between the student councillors and the students, with the students asking for more welfare and the councillors thinking of excuses to not provide them.

that's a reason why they are the councillor. In chs, those people really tolled hard to make fantasies into reality.
Heck, we even have our own lan shop.
The amount of commitement i see in councillors of age 17~18 is nothing compared to those age 12~16.
Now. If councillors can't do what they are supposed to do, why do their even become councillors in the first place? To act sei? To hao lian?

to add on, in the then TCHS, councillors have a clear vision in mind. they do not plan activities for the sake of planning them.
The most important thing is actually looking after the welfare of the students, and indirectly their happiness with the school, which would affect the school spirit.
You don't just plan activities because it has to be done. You plan those activities because you want good for the students and those activities give you the chance you have to instill school spirit and happiness.
What i see that rather than doing all they could for the students, they are doing things because things have to be done.
Heck, even a small detail, like the audi being too filled and 100++ people have to sit on the floor, the councillors are paying a blind eye to. Where is care for welfare? Can't they just take the trouble to hold 2 sessions instead? Is it that hard to convince the school heads that you need to hold 2 sessions because this is not a freaking primary school and students have to be treated like adults and adults don't sit on the floor of any audi just to listen to a few people give excuses for their lack of responsiblity and capability.
Such small detail, and the councillor did not notice it. What about bigger events? Bigger things? Surely the councillors won't be able to handle and look after the student welfare to.
The student population exists not FOR the councillors. The councillors exist for the student population. You expect students to develope school spirit by siting on the floor in the audi???
Heck, i'm not a councillor, but i'm singlely responsible for 2 milestones in AJC. First, the inter-jc chinese current affairs quiz held last year was done very successfully and from then on cxtreme and ajc has received high regards from other jc because of our technical capabilities, all because of a software i created for taking of scores. In computer labs like 212, you see another evident of me: iGuard, which prevents people from gaming using the school computers and allow those who really need to use the computers for academical purposes to use them.
Such is the power of an individual who is non-councillor. And what are the councillors doing, caring about the comfort of their own throat, butt and brain while students see little change.
You want to tell me councillors have done something? Ok.
How many people are using AJIBAS? And why the hell is workbin (for people to upload files) used instead of a forum style thing? You expect people to be able put an item for sale, and close the deal for the sale just by uploading and downloading files? What the hell is this. imagine ebay doing it.
There are plently things that the councillors did which are impractical and done because it looks good on paper. And it looks good only to the councillors themselves. Future employers won't fall for these badly organised crap.
Get real.

i agree with what you said...
i agree that council is run like that..
as a councillor, i have to admit that there are times where we are forced to do things we don't..
when we give an idea, we have to go through so many red-tapes and proposals..
we try to do things, but the student response was...
and the attitude of the students are not encouraging either.. their lack of enthusiasm, and heck-care attitude is really trully depressing..
have you ever wondered how the council feels.. people can never be satisfied with what they have..
we miss so much lessons, that the pile of tutorials and untouched empty lecture notes are still there.. we already missed like 20 days of school,and we sacrificed quite a lot.. our friends, our families, our studies..
we are really tired.. especially me
if you really want to do something for the school, help us, help council, instead of just criticising it..
join the alumni, which AJCians are really unaware or indifferent of. in well known institutions like HCI, Raffles, and ACS, the alumni is extremely powerful and strong. They give support, the funds, the spirit...
we only have 2 years of JC life..
we have a life time to help the school, if you really love it...
